I'm David Paul, and I work as a Senior Technical Support Engineer at Jadu. I've been at Jadu for 9 years, with the first few years being as a developer working on various features, until eventually moving into the support team where I have remained since.

My background in computer science started at around age 5 or 6 when started programming on a ZX Spectrum. Later, after having used various versions of the Spectrum, Amstrad and MSX, I moved onto PCs (my first was a 286 using SIPP RAM!) which soon meant experimenting with QBASIC and building/repairing my own computer as well as learning as much as I could about the architecture behind computers.

By the time I went to University I'd used at least half a dozen forms of BASIC, and also JavaScript, HTML, Pascal (well, the form that Delphi used anyway), and C. By the time I left University I'd taught myself PHP in my spare time, whilst the University taught me Java, C++, Haskel, and Prolog. My interest in computer science in general also worked well with my interest in video games as this resulted in a fairly successful "Stargate SG-1"-based total conversion for Duke Nukem 3D during the late 90s which modified the physics, graphics, levels, and sounds of the original game.

Outside of computer science I'm interested in travel (I've visited all 7 continents), photography (which ties in quite nicely with travel), running, scuba diving, video games, films, and pretty much anything relating to science (fiction or otherwise) or fantasy. In October 2014 I ran my first marathon managing a sub-4hr time, and I hope to improve on this in the London Marathon in 2015.
